001.What is your favorite CD and why?
My favorite CD is 'Endtroducing ...' by the American music producer DJ Shadow (the artist name of Joshua Davis, ed.). This is such a great album.
002.What is your favorite song and when do you prefer to listen to it?
I do not have a favorite song. But if I need some energy and I need t oremember the right attitude to life I listen to the songs of the CD 'Troublegum'
from the group Therapy.
003.Do you ever liste to music just before filming and/or performances?
Yes, my iPhone playlist is always in random order.
004.How important is music in your private life?
I have spent a holiday without music. Your brain remembers enough numbers to keep you busy.
005.Who is your favorite singer (man or woman) and/or group?
For me is that the American neo-soul, R & B and hip hop singer Erykah Badu (Artist name of Erica Wright, ed.).
006.With who would you like to sing a duet?
Together with my "The Fast Show" colleague Paul Whitehouse I would like to sing as a duet the classical song "Au fond du temple saint" ("At the back
of the holy temple") from the opera Les pêcheurs de perles of Georges Bizet.
007.What is your favorite sport? And do you also practice a sport yourself?
The Scottish sport Curling is a precision sport that is played on ice with heavy stones. I like to look at this. Self I do running, even though I do it at my
own speed.
008.U acts in TV series ("Father Brown" from 2013), movies ('101 Dalmatians' from 1996), doing theater (Frankenstein's Wedding ... Live in
Leeds from 2011), are comedian (The Fast Show Live from 1998), presents television programs ("The Link" from 2014), radio programs
(The Tape-Recorded HighLights of a Humble Bee from 2003), are a writer (The Fast Show Farewell Tour from 2003), directs plays (Bleeding
Hearts from 1996) and does voices (like for the video game Lego Dimensions from 2015 and the animated film 'Early Man' from 2018). If
you have to make a selection from all your activities that you like to do the most, what would it be?
I would never want to make a choice to do one thing. The incredible privilege to be asked to do different things is the greatest joy in my career. Some
things I never expected to do.
009.You sometimes hear that every character that an actor or actress plays have something of itself. Can you name both an agreement and a
big difference in terms of character between yourself and Father Brown from "Father Brown" of 2013?
It is essential to bring something from yourself to your character. Otherwise it is just one caricature without love that you play. Father Brown has an
unwavering faith. Both in faith itself as fellow human beings. I do not have that myself. With me it is still until here and not further. I can not easily
mention an agreement. I already see Father Brown as one of my friends from my own circle of friends.
010.At what point in your career you are the most proud and/or do you save the best memories?
Pride is a big word. I see that a bit like a sin. Every job has a lot of unique memories and most of them are through the work of certain persons where
I worked with. I therefore think that the best part of the acting is the people with who you work.
011.From 1994 until 2000 you could be see three seasons in the tv-series "The Fast Show ". Have Paul Whitehouse (the other protagonist and
writer of the series, ed.) and you agree on the possibility of a return with The Fast Show on TV or in theater?
After the TV series, two more theater shows have appeared. The Fast Show Live from 1998 and The Fast Show Farewell Tour from 2003. As far as I
am concerned there is always a possibility "The Fast Show" can return, but that is up to the BBC. Next year it will be 25 years ago that the program
first appeared.
012.In 1997 the first Harry Potter book appeared, while four years later the first 'Harry Potter' movie appeared. What did you have with the
books before you was approached for the role of Arthur Weasley?
When I read the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, I immediately thought that I could be Arthur Weasly. I knew how I
should play him. There is a big difference between films and books. If I had to make a choice between these two, if I prefer to read a film or reading a
book, then I choose to read a book.
013.What can we expect from you in the future in showbizz?
From Friday, November 9, 2018 through Saturday, May 4, 2019, I can be seen as Dr. Dolittle in a new version of the Leslie Bricus musical Dr. Dolittle.
With this musical we go touring along British theaters. The seventh season of the TV series "Father Brown" will be broadcast from January 2019. I am
also going to play the role of Mabuse in the movie 'The Dark Channel'.
